Exports from Peru

In 2022, shipments abroad of crabs, not frozen decreased by -1.4% to X tons, falling for the fourth year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -5.4% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 66%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, crabs, not frozen exports fell to $X in 2022. In general, total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +141.2% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 50% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

The United States (X tons) was the main destination for crabs, not frozen exports from Peru, accounting for a 77% share of total exports. Moreover, crabs, not frozen exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Japan (X kg), threefold.

Based on 2022 figures, crabs, not frozen export price increased by +3.5% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 32% against the previous year.
