Exports from Peru

In 2022, overseas shipments of chilies and peppers (green) decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted tangible growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, chili and pepper exports reduced markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Italy (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main destinations of chili and pepper exports from Peru, with a combined X% share of total exports. Free Zones, Panama, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Switzerland (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
