From 2009 to 2019, the growth exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, bentonite exports rose remarkably to $X in 2019. Overall, exports recorded a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum in 2019 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
In 2019, India (X tons), distantly followed by the U.S. (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Italy (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main exporters of bentonite, together achieving X% of total exports. Slovakia (X tons), Azerbaijan (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Greece (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2007 to 2019, the biggest increases were in Greece, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest bentonite supplying countries from Peru were the U.S. ($X), Turkey ($X) and India ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports.
Turkey recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The bentonite export price in Peru stood at $X per ton in 2019, surging by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2019, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2019, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2019, after two years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of bentonite, when their volume decreased by -X% to X tons. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2012 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2013 to 2019, the growth imports failed to regain the momentum.
In value terms, bentonite imports shrank to $X in 2019. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2013 to 2019, the growth imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the twelve major importers of bentonite, namely Germany, Canada, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, the UK, Japan and France, represented more than half of total import. Italy (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Thailand, while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), Canada ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2019, together accounting for X% of total imports. These countries were followed by Japan, Thailand, France, the UK, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Russia, Malaysia and Italy, which together accounted for a further X recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The bentonite import price in Peru stood at $X per ton in 2019, with a decrease of -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a moderate increase from 2007 to 2019: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last twelve years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2019 figures, bentonite import price increased by +X% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2009 an increase of X% against the previous year. Peru import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2019, import prices remained at a lower figure.
