There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kuwait ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Pakistan
For the fifth consecutive year, Pakistan recorded growth in supplies from abroad of vulcanised rubber thread and cord, which increased by 9.9% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports saw buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 42%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, vulcanised rubber thread imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 34%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Thailand (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of vulcanised rubber thread to Pakistan, accounting for a 79% share of total imports. Moreover, vulcanised rubber thread imports from Thailand exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Malaysia (X tons), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Japan (X tons), with a 4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Thailand totaled +18.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Malaysia (+0.1% per year) and Japan (-3.5% per year).
In value terms, Thailand ($X) constituted the largest supplier of vulcanised rubber thread and cord to Pakistan, comprising 74% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Malaysia ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 5.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Thailand totaled +13.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Malaysia (+1.1% per year) and China (+49.8% per year).

The average vulcanised rubber thread import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 21% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 28% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
