Exports from Pakistan

For the fourth year in a row, Pakistan recorded growth in overseas shipments of soap and detergents, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports posted a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, soap and detergent exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports posted buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Afghanistan (X tons) was the main destination for soap and detergent exports from Pakistan, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, soap and detergent exports to Afghanistan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Uzbekistan (X tons), twofold. Qatar (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Afghanistan totaled X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uzbekistan (X% per year) and Qatar (X% per year).

Imports into Pakistan

Soap and detergent imports into Pakistan dropped to X tons in 2022, which is down by X% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, saw a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, soap and detergent imports contracted modestly to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices.
