Grapefruit Market Size in Pakistan

After two years of decline, the Pakistani grapefruit market increased by X% to $X in 2019. Overall, consumption, however, recorded a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the market value increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. In value terms, grapefruit exports shrank sharply to $X in 2019. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at $X in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2019, exports failed to regain the momentum.

The United Arab Emirates (X tonnes) was the main destination for grapefruit exports from Pakistan, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, grapefruit exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Kuwait (X tonnes), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Singapore (X kg), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2019, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United Arab Emirates was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kuwait (-X% per year) and Singapore (-X% per year).

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for grapefruit exports from Pakistan, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Kuwait ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Singapore, with a X% share.

In 2019, the average grapefruit export price amounted to $X per tonne, falling by -X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed tangible growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average export prices attained the maximum at $X per tonne in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2019, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of grapefruits increased by X% to X tonnes in 2019. Over the period under review, imports recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2019, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, grapefruit imports stood at $X in 2019. In general, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2019, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2019, Turkey (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of grapefruit to Pakistan, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, grapefruit imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Africa (X tonnes), fourfold.
