Exports from Pakistan

In 2021, shipments abroad of concrete or mortar mixers decreased by -29.2% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 194%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then fell notably in the following year.

In value terms, concrete mixer exports reduced remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a measured increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 121%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Afghanistan (X units) and Saudi Arabia (X units) were the main destinations of concrete mixer exports from Pakistan.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Saudi Arabia (with a CAGR of +45.7%).

In value terms, the largest markets for concrete mixer exported from Pakistan were Saudi Arabia ($X) and Afghanistan ($X).

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Afghanistan totaled $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+17.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, purchases abroad of concrete or mortar mixers was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a noticeable reduction. Imports peaked at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, concrete mixer imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports posted notable growth. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of concrete mixer to Pakistan, with a 66% share of total imports. Moreover, concrete mixer imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United Arab Emirates (X units), threefold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +7.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-11.6% per year) and Germany (-9.7% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of concrete or mortar mixers to Pakistan, comprising 86% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 6.9% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled +14.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+0.4% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-13.9% per year).

In 2021, the average concrete mixer import price amounted to $X per unit, declining by -26.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 37% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then fell sharply in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was China ($X per unit), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+11.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
