In value terms, chemically modified oils imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a temperate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 155% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Kuwait (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of chemically modified oils to Pakistan, accounting for a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, chemically modified oils imports from Kuwait exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Oman (X tons), with an 8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Kuwait totaled +13.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (+15.5% per year) and Oman (-9.3% per year).
In value terms, the largest chemically modified oils suppliers to Pakistan were Kuwait ($X), Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) and China ($X), together comprising 79% of total imports. These countries were followed by Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Oman, which together accounted for a further 10%.
Among the main suppliers, Singapore, with a CAGR of +43.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average chemically modified oils import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a mild setback. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
