In 2021, shipments abroad of fresh or chilled whole chickens increased by 21% to X tons, rising for the seventh year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, exports posted a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 233% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, fresh whole chicken exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate pronounced growth. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, fresh whole chicken imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a drastic downturn. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of fresh whole chicken to Oman, with a 49% share of total imports. Moreover, fresh whole chicken imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Saudi Arabia (X tons), twofold.
