Sweden (X units), the UK (X units) and Poland (X units) were the main destinations of laptop and tablet computer exports from Norway, together accounting for 59% of total exports. These countries were followed by Denmark, Estonia, Germany, the Netherlands, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 28%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of +72.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Sweden ($X) remains the key foreign market for laptops and palm-top computers exports from Norway, comprising 52% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Denmark ($X), with a 9.3% share of total exports. It was followed by the UK, with an 8.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Sweden was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Denmark (+7.7% per year) and the UK (+13.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average laptop and tablet computer export price amounted to $X per unit, surging by 9.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 22% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Estonia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+11.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Norway
In 2021, overseas purchases of laptops and palm-top computers increased by 11% to X units, rising for the third year in a row after six years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a noticeable downturn. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, laptop and tablet computer imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) was the main supplier of laptop and tablet computer to Norway, with a 92% share of total imports. It was followed by Sweden (X units), with a 1.6% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to -2.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Sweden (-5.0% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-24.6% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of laptops and palm-top computers to Norway, comprising 93% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Sweden ($X), with a 0.9% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Sweden (-4.5% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-16.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average laptop and tablet computer import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 6.6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
