In 2022, the Norwegian grape market decreased by -5.1% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, consumption saw a mild slump. From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+28.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Grape imports into Norway declined slightly to X tons in 2022, with a decrease of -2.6% against 2021 figures. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 2.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, grape imports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a slight setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 7.2%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

South Africa (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of grape imports to Norway, together comprising 71% of total imports. Peru, Egypt, India, Brazil and Chile lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Peru (with a CAGR of +17.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, South Africa ($X), Spain ($X) and Peru ($X) appeared to be the largest grape suppliers to Norway, together accounting for 70% of total imports.
