Exports from Norway

Glass fibre mat exports from Norway fell rapidly to X tons in 2022, with a decrease of -46.4% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, exports, however, saw buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 1,962%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined significantly in the following year.

In value terms, glass fibre mat exports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 782%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then fell sharply in the following year.

Denmark (X tons) was the main destination for glass fibre mat exports from Norway, with a 92% share of total exports. Moreover, glass fibre mat exports to Denmark exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Sweden (X tons), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Denmark totaled +10.0%.

In value terms, Denmark ($X) remains the key foreign market for glass fibre mats exports from Norway, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Sweden ($X), with an 11% share of total exports.

The average glass fibre mat export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 3.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 48%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, imports of glass fibre mats into Norway plummeted to X tons, which is down by -21.5% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 79%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, glass fibre mat imports declined remarkably to $X in 2022.
