Exports in Northern America

After three years of decline, overseas shipments of quilted textile products in the piece (excluding embroidery) increased by 12% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, quilted textile products exports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 36%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

The United States prevails in exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 95% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Canada (X tons), comprising a 5% share of total exports.

The United States was also the fastest-growing in terms of the quilted textile products in the piece (excluding embroidery) exports, with a CAGR of -1.7% from 2012 to 2021. Canada (-7.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the United States (+3.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Canada (-3.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the largest quilted textile products supplier in Northern America, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Canada ($X), with a 15% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the United States totaled -3.9%.

The export price in Northern America stood at $X per ton in 2021, approximately reflecting the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a mild setback. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 71%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, quilted textile products imports rose notably to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

The purchases of the two major importers of quilted textile products in the piece (excluding embroidery), namely Canada and the United States, represented more than two-thirds of total import.
