As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Portugal (X tons) was the main destination for solid biofuel exports from Nigeria, accounting for a 18% share of total exports. Moreover, solid biofuel exports to Portugal exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), twofold. Poland (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 2.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Portugal stood at +19.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+50.4% per year) and Poland (-18.9% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for solid biofuel exported from Nigeria were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Portugal ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 18% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Israel, Greece, Turkey, Belgium, the Netherlands and Niger, which together accounted for a further 6.7%.
Niger, with a CAGR of +73.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average solid biofuel export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by -25.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 96%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Greece ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Niger ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+12.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Nigeria
In 2022, imports of solid biofuels into Nigeria surged to X tons, increasing by 106% on the previous year. In general, imports posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 12,460%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, solid biofuel imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 92,582% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest solid biofuel supplier to Nigeria, accounting for a 47% share of total imports. Moreover, solid biofuel imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the UK (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +50.9%.
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of solid biofuels to Nigeria, comprising 42% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the UK ($X), with a 0.5% share of total imports.

Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average solid biofuel import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 115% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 638%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for the UK stood at $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Portugal (+43.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
