Exports from Nigeria

In 2022, overseas shipments of lamp holders, plugs and sockets decreased by -4.4% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 184% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, lamp holder exports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a measured expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 599% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Benin (X tons) was the main destination for lamp holder exports from Nigeria, accounting for a 1.3% share of total exports. Moreover, lamp holder exports to Benin exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Congo (X kg), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Gambia (X kg), with a 0.2% share.
