Cocoa Butter Market Size in Nigeria

The revenue of the cocoa butter market in Nigeria amounted to $X in 2018, surging by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, cocoa butter consumption, however, continues to indicate a temperate slump. Exports from Nigeria

In 2018, the amount of cocoa butter exported from Nigeria stood at X tonnes, going up by X% against the previous year. In general, cocoa butter exports, however, continue to indicate a moderate curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, cocoa butter exports reached their maximum at X tonnes in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cocoa butter exports amounted to $X in 2018. In general, cocoa butter exports, however, continue to indicate a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, cocoa butter exports reached their maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, exports failed to regain their momentum.

Exports by Country

Albania (X tonnes) was the main destination for cocoa butter exports from Nigeria, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, cocoa butter exports to Albania exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, China (X tonnes), twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by the U.S. (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Albania totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+X% per year) and the U.S. (+X% per year).

In value terms, Barbados ($X), Albania ($X) and the U.S. ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for cocoa butter exported from Nigeria worldwide, together accounting for X% of total exports. The Netherlands, Germany, France, Ukraine, Russia, Switzerland, Estonia, China and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X the main countries of destination, Russia experienced the highest rates of growth with regard to exports, over the last eleven-year period, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2018, the average cocoa butter export price amounted to $X per tonne, dropping by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the cocoa butter export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of X% against the previous year. In that year, the average export prices for cocoa butter reached their peak level of $X per tonne. From 2016 to 2018, the growth in terms of the average export prices for cocoa butter remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Barbados ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to China ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Barbados, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2018, the amount of cocoa butter imported into Nigeria amounted to X tonnes, surging by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, cocoa butter imports, however, continue to indicate a measured descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, imports failed to regain their momentum.

In value terms, cocoa butter imports stood at $X in 2018. In general, cocoa butter imports, however, continue to indicate a slight drop. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2018, Singapore (X tonnes) constituted the largest cocoa butter supplier to Nigeria, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, cocoa butter imports from Singapore exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the U.S. (X tonnes), twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by the Netherlands (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Singapore amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the U.S. (-X% per year) and the Netherlands (-X% per year).

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) constituted the largest supplier of cocoa butter to Nigeria, comprising X% of total cocoa butter imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Singapore ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the Netherlands amounted to -X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Singapore (+X% per year) and France (-X% per year).
