The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2009 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, exports attained the peak of X tonnes. from 2010 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, acyclic hydrocarbons exports reduced to $X in 2020. In general, exports showed a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 with an increase of X% year-to-year. As a result, exports attained the peak of $X. from 2010 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

The U.S. (X tonnes) was the main destination for acyclic hydrocarbons exports from Nigeria, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, acyclic hydrocarbons exports to the U.S. exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X tonnes), fourfold.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to the U.S. amounted to -X%.

In 2020, the amount of acyclic hydrocarbons imported into Nigeria totaled X tonnes, with an increase of X% against 2019 figures. Overall, imports, however, showed a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, acyclic hydrocarbons imports skyrocketed to $X in 2020. In general, imports, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

China (X tonnes), Estonia (X tonnes) and South Korea (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of acyclic hydrocarbons imports to Nigeria, together accounting for X% of total imports. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per tonne. from 2018 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Greece ($X per tonne), while the price for South Korea ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
