Tin Market Size in the Netherlands
After four years of decline, the Dutch tin market increased by X% to $X in 2021. In general, consumption, however, showed a dramatic curtailment. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tonnes, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
In value terms, tin exports shrank notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a notable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then declined significantly in the following year.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tonnes) was the main destination for tin exports from the Netherlands, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, tin exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Austria (X tonnes), threefold. France (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Austria (+X% per year) and France (-X% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for tin exports from the Netherlands, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by France ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Austria, with an X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (-X% per year) and Austria (+X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average tin export price stood at $X per tonne in 2021, growing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Austria ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Tin Imports
Imports into the Netherlands
In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of tin, when their volume decreased by -X% to X tonnes. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a notable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tonnes, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, tin imports fell rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Indonesia (X tonnes) constituted the largest tin supplier to the Netherlands, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, tin imports from Indonesia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Bolivia (X tonnes), fourfold. China (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total imports with an X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Indonesia stood at +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Bolivia (-X% per year) and China (+X% per year).
