Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

France (X tons) was the main destination for roasted coffee exports from the Netherlands, accounting for a 35% share of total exports. In value terms, France ($X) remains the key foreign market for roasted coffee exports from the Netherlands, comprising 32% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belgium ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 9.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to France stood at +18.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belgium (+10.5% per year) and Germany (+0.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average roasted coffee export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 7.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Finland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the amount of roasted coffee imported into the Netherlands was estimated at X tons, surging by 6.2% compared with the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 79% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, roasted coffee imports stood at $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 20%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest roasted coffee supplier to the Netherlands, with a 39% share of total imports. Moreover, roasted coffee imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X tons), threefold. France (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany totaled +4.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+19.9% per year) and France (+19.0% per year).
In value terms, the largest roasted coffee suppliers to the Netherlands were France ($X), Germany ($X) and Poland ($X), together comprising 67% of total imports. Italy, Belgium, the UK and Luxembourg lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.
Among the main suppliers, the UK, with a CAGR of +26.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average roasted coffee import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 1.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
