Pineapple Market Size in the Netherlands

For the sixth year in a row, the Dutch pineapple market recorded decline in sales value, which decreased by -X% to $X in 2019. Over the period under review, consumption saw a deep reduction. Germany (X tonnes) was the main destination for pineapple exports from the Netherlands, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, pineapple exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X tonnes), threefold. Spain (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2019, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+X% per year) and Spain (+X% per year).

The average pineapple export price stood at $X per tonne in 2019, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 an increase of X% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2019, export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2019, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to the UK ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
