Palm Kernel Market Size in the Netherlands

In 2019, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the Dutch palm kernel market, when its value decreased by -X% to $X. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Germany (X tonnes) was the main destination for palm kernel exports from the Netherlands, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, palm kernel exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the UK (X tonnes), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by France (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2019, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany totaled -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the UK (+X% per year) and France (-X% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X), the U.S. ($X) and Iran ($X) constituted the largest markets for palm kernel exported from the Netherlands worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by France, the UK, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Spain, Denmark and Poland, which together accounted for a further X recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average palm kernel export price stood at $X per tonne in 2019, reducing by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, export price attained the peak level of $X per tonne, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Iran ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Germany ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2019, supplies from abroad of palm kernels decreased by -X% to X tonnes for the first time since 2016, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, total imports indicated modest growth from 2007 to 2019: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last twelve-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tonnes.
