In 2021, the total area harvested in terms of coconuts production in Myanmar amounted to X ha, remaining constant against the year before. In general, the harvested area continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the harvested area increased by X% against the previous year. For the third year in a row, Myanmar recorded growth in overseas shipments of coconuts, which increased by X% to X tons in 2021. In general, exports enjoyed a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, coconut exports reduced modestly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
India (X tons) was the main destination for coconut exports from Myanmar, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, coconut exports to India exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Thailand (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Singapore (X tons), with an X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to India was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Thailand (+X% per year) and Singapore (+X% per year).
In value terms, Thailand ($X), India ($X) and Singapore ($X) constituted the largest markets for coconut exported from Myanmar worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. Bangladesh and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X the main countries of destination, the United States, with a CAGR of +X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Myanmar
In 2021, imports of coconuts into Myanmar dropped notably to X tons, shrinking by -X% compared with 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a mild expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, coconut imports shrank markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a slight setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Indonesia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of coconut to Myanmar, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, coconut imports from Indonesia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Thailand (X tons), sixfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Indonesia totaled +X%.
In value terms, the largest coconut suppliers to Myanmar were Indonesia ($X) and Thailand ($X, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review.
Import Prices by Country
The average coconut import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a perceptible reduction.
