Congo (X kg) was the main destination for optical fiber and bundle exports from Morocco, accounting for a 94% share of total exports. It was followed by the United States (X kg), with a 2.9% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Congo was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+16.0% per year) and France (-17.4% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for optical fiber and bundle exports from Morocco, comprising 53% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Congo ($X), with a 24% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States amounted to +34.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Congo (0.0% per year) and France (-19.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average optical fiber and bundle export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 21% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 80% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Congo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+55.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Morocco
For the third year in a row, Morocco recorded growth in supplies from abroad of optical fibers and bundles, which increased by 66% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports posted a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 307%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
In value terms, optical fiber and bundle imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 265%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of optical fiber and bundle to Morocco, with a 62% share of total imports. Moreover, optical fiber and bundle imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Japan (X tons), with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +46.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+544.4% per year) and Japan (+70.3% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of optical fiber and bundle to Morocco, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled +57.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (+70.3% per year) and India (+566.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average optical fiber and bundle import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 2.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 103% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the price for Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+20.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
