Exports in the Middle East
In 2020, shipments abroad of wood residues increased by X% to X cubic meters, rising for the fifth consecutive year after three years of decline. In general, exports showed a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2020 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, wood residues exports rose sharply to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2020 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Turkey was the largest exporter of wood residues in the Middle East, with the volume of exports finishing at X cubic meters, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2020. The United Arab Emirates (X cubic meters) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X cubic meters). All these countries together held approx. X% share of total exports. Lebanon (X cubic meters) took a relatively small share of total exports.
Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the wood residues exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2020. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Saudi Arabia and Lebanon experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2020, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per cubic meter, remaining stable against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of X%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per cubic meter. From 2014 to 2020, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2020, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per cubic meter), while Lebanon ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lebanon (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Wood residues imports stood at X cubic meters in 2020, picking up by X% against 2019 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2020; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2020 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

The following importers - Bahrain (X cubic meters) and Saudi Arabia (X cubic meters) - each accounted for a X% share of total imports.
