For the eighth year in a row, the Middle East recorded growth in overseas shipments of unsaturated polyesters in primary forms, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. In general, exports recorded prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, unsaturated polyesters in primary forms exports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. Exports by Country

Turkey represented the main exporter of unsaturated polyesters in primary forms in the Middle East, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons), together generating a X% share of total exports. Iran (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to unsaturated polyesters in primary forms exports from Turkey stood at X%. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (X%), Iran (X%) and the United Arab Emirates (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Turkey (X p.p.) and Saudi Arabia (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. In Turkey, unsaturated polyesters in primary forms exports increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (X% per year) and Saudi Arabia (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of unsaturated polyesters in primary forms decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, unsaturated polyesters in primary forms imports reached $X in 2022. Total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

Turkey (X tons), Israel (X tons), Iraq (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Qatar (X tons) represented roughly X% of total imports in 2022. Oman (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Saudi Arabia (X%).

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Iraq (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while Iraq ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
