Exports in the Middle East

In 2022, shipments abroad of tobacco (unmanufactured) increased by X% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, saw a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, unmanufactured tobacco exports totaled $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a noticeable shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Turkey (X tons) represented the key exporter of tobacco (unmanufactured), generating X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Lebanon (X tons), together creating a X% share of total exports. Iran (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Turkey decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Iran (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iran emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern.
