Exports in the Middle East

For the fourth year in a row, the Middle East recorded growth in overseas shipments of shelled walnuts, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by X%. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, shelled walnut exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports recorded a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Turkey (X tons) represented the major exporter of shelled walnuts, committing X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Iran (X tons), committing a X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Syrian Arab Republic (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) - each amounted to a X% share of total exports.

Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the shelled walnuts exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (X%) and Iran (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Syrian Arab Republic (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
