Exports in the Middle East
In 2022, shipments abroad of polystyrene in primary forms (excluding expansible polystyrene) decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports, however, recorded a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, polystyrene in primary forms exports contracted dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Iran (X tons) was the largest exporter of polystyrene in primary forms (excluding expansible polystyrene), constituting X% of total exports. Saudi Arabia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Turkey (X tons). All these countries together took near X% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
