Exports in the Middle East

In 2022, overseas shipments of molasses (excluding cane molasses) decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the fifth consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports saw a precipitous contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-cane molasses exports shrank rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports faced a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Syrian Arab Republic was the major exporter of molasses (excluding cane molasses) in the Middle East, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Palestine (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Iran (X%), Turkey (X%) and Saudi Arabia (X%).
