Exports in the Middle East

After two years of growth, overseas shipments of iron or steel gas domestic appliances decreased by -5.6% to X units in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 58% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, metal gas appliances exports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 71% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then fell modestly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Turkey was the major exporting country with an export of around X units, which finished at 50% of total exports. Iran (X units) held a 30% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Israel (16%). The United Arab Emirates (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Israel (with a CAGR of +40.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Israel ($X), Turkey ($X) and Iran ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 97% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Israel, with a CAGR of +43.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 2.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the export price increased by 20%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+1.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2022, metal gas appliances imports in the Middle East rose notably to X units, with an increase of 12% against 2021 figures. Total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +76.3% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 58%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Israel (X units) and the United Arab Emirates (X units) were the largest importers of iron or steel gas domestic appliances in 2022, reaching approx. 37% and 27% of total imports, respectively. Kuwait (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Turkey (X units). All these countries together held near 17% share of total imports. Iraq (X units), Jordan (X units) and Qatar (X units) took a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Qatar (with a CAGR of +33.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, declining by -19.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the import price increased by 11%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
