Exports in the Middle East
In 2022, exports of internal combustion engines, excluding diesel (other than for motor vehicles and aircraft) in the Middle East dropped to X units, with a decrease of X% compared with the previous year. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, exports of internal combustion engines, excluding diesel (other than for motor vehicles and aircraft) fell notably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell sharply in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Bahrain (X units) was the key exporter of internal combustion engines, excluding diesel (other than for motor vehicles and aircraft), constituting X% of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X units) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Turkey (X%). Oman (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.
Bahrain was also the fastest-growing in terms of the internal combustion engines, excluding diesel (other than for motor vehicles and aircraft) exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (X%) and Turkey (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Oman (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Bahrain (X p.p.) and the United Arab Emirates (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Turkey and Oman saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) emerged as the largest internal combustion engine (excl. diesel, moto vehicle and aircraft) supplier in the Middle East, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Oman ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkey, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in the United Arab Emirates amounted to X%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Oman (X% per year) and Turkey (X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2022, reducing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Oman ($X per unit), while Bahrain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (X%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

After two years of growth, purchases abroad of internal combustion engines, excluding diesel (other than for motor vehicles and aircraft) decreased by X% to X units in 2022. Total imports indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then shrank notably in the following year.
