Exports in the Middle East
After two years of growth, overseas shipments of frozen, dried and smoked fish decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, frozen, dried and smoked fish exports totaled $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Oman represented the main exporter of frozen, dried and smoked fish in the Middle East, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. Turkey (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Iran (X%), Yemen (X%) and Saudi Arabia (X%). The United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to frozen, dried and smoked fish exports from Oman stood at X%. At the same time, Iran (X%), Saudi Arabia (X%), Turkey (X%) and Bahrain (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by X% against the previous year. Export price indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, frozen, dried and smoked fish export price increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the export price increased by X%.
