The shipments of the one major exporters of chlorosulphuric acid, namely Oman, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

Oman was also the fastest-growing in terms of the chlorosulphuric acid exports, with a CAGR of -13.5% from 2012 to 2022. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Oman ($X) also remains the largest chlorosulphuric acid supplier in the Middle East.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 106%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Jordan was the largest importer of chlorosulphuric acid in the Middle East, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 71% of total imports in 2022. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 11% share, followed by Israel (5%). Lebanon (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Iran (X tons) and Iraq (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to chlorosulphuric acid imports into Jordan stood at +21.3%. At the same time, Iran (+58.8%) and Turkey (+3.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iran emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +58.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Lebanon (-8.0%), Israel (-23.8%), Iraq (-27.7%) and the United Arab Emirates (-28.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, the largest chlorosulphuric acid importing markets in the Middle East were Jordan ($X), Iran ($X) and Lebanon ($X), together accounting for 79% of total imports.

Iran, with a CAGR of +47.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 1.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded mild growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 98%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Iran ($X per ton), while Iraq ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+3.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
