Exports in the Middle East
In 2022, overseas shipments of buckwheat increased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, buckwheat exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports posted strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Yemen represented the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which recorded X% of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Syrian Arab Republic (X%), Turkey (X%) and Israel (X%).
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Israel (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
