In 2022, the Middle Eastern avocado market decreased by X% to $X for the first time since 2013, thus ending a eight-year rising trend. In general, consumption, however, saw a strong expansion. Avocado Exports

Exports in the Middle East

For the fourth year in a row, the Middle East recorded growth in shipments abroad of avocados, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports showed temperate growth. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, avocado exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a moderate increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Israel (X tons) represented the main exporter of avocados, mixing up X% of total exports. Lebanon (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Turkey (X tons). All these countries together held approx. X% share of total exports.

Israel experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of avocados. At the same time, Turkey (X%), the United Arab Emirates (X%) and Lebanon (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkey emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Lebanon ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, avocado imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports posted a significant expansion.
