Exports in MENA

In 2022, overseas shipments of oil crops (primary) decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by X%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, oil crops exports declined to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In 2022, Turkey (X tons) represented the largest exporter of oil crops (primary), constituting X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Egypt (X tons), together generating a X% share of total exports. Israel (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.

Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (X%) and Egypt (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank slightly in the following year.

In value terms, oil crops imports rose remarkably to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2016 indices.
