Poultry Market Size in Mexico

In value terms, poultry production reduced to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, the total production indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +23.1% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 67%. Over the period under review, production reached the maximum level at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.
In 2021, the average yield of poultry in Mexico was estimated at X kg per head, stabilizing at the previous year's figure. Overall, the yield showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the yield increased by 5.6%. The poultry yield peaked at X kg per head in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the yield stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from Mexico
In 2021, overseas shipments of poultry decreased by -2.3% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after five years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, poultry exports fell to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, posted a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 66% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Benin (X tons), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons) and Angola (X tons) were the main destinations of poultry exports from Mexico, with a combined 71% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Democratic Republic of the Congo (with a CAGR of +36.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Benin ($X), Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X) and Congo ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for poultry exported from Mexico worldwide, with a combined 72% share of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a CAGR of +29.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average poultry export price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -10.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 69% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Congo ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Togo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Congo (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Poultry Imports
Imports into Mexico
In 2021, the amount of poultry imported into Mexico reached X tons, approximately mirroring the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 11%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, poultry imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the United States (X tons) was the main supplier of poultry to Mexico, with a 99% share of total imports. It was followed by Brazil (X tons), with a 2% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the United States stood at +2.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Brazil (+22.0% per year) and Chile (-22.2% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) constituted the largest supplier of poultry to Mexico, comprising 106% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a 2.2% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from the United States stood at +1.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Brazil (+20.8% per year) and Chile (-22.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average poultry import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 28% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a mild contraction. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while the price for the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
