Over the period under review, exports attained the peak figure at X tonnes in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, pistachio exports fell to $X in 2020. In general, exports recorded a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, exports attained the peak of $X. from 2015 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Canada (X kg) was the main destination for pistachio exports from Mexico, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, pistachio exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belize (X kg), sixfold.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Canada amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belize (+X% per year) and South Korea (-X% per year).

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2012 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Belize ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
