In 2021, the amount of residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture exported in MERCOSUR rose markedly to X units, surging by 15% against 2020. In general, exports, however, saw a deep slump. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the peak figure at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, exports of residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture rose notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep reduction. Exports by Country
Brazil represented the key exporting country with an export of about X units, which reached 68% of total exports. Argentina (X units) held a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Paraguay (5.7%). The following exporters - Chile (X units), Colombia (X units), Peru (X units) and Ecuador (X units) - together made up 13% of total exports.
Brazil experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture. At the same time, Ecuador (+14.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ecuador emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +14.8% from 2012-2021. Peru experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Paraguay (-3.6%), Chile (-10.4%), Colombia (-11.6%) and Argentina (-17.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+29 p.p.) and Ecuador (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Chile, Colombia and Argentina saw its share reduced by -2.5%, -2.8% and -25.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Argentina ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Chile, with a 12% share.
In Brazil, exports of residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture shrank by an average annual rate of -7.9% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Argentina (-14.6% per year) and Chile (-7.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, waning by -1.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Brazil ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Paraguay (+12.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2021, approx. X units of residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture were imported in MERCOSUR; jumping by 26% against the year before. Total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Brazil (X units) was the major importer of residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture, achieving 45% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X units), Chile (X units), Peru (X units), Argentina (X units) and Ecuador (X units), together comprising a 50% share of total imports. Paraguay (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture imports, with a CAGR of +13.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Colombia (+10.1%), Ecuador (+9.5%), Peru (+3.7%) and Chile (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Paraguay and Argentina experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Brazil (+20 p.p.) and Colombia (+4.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Paraguay, Peru, Chile and Argentina saw its share reduced by -1.5%, -2.5%, -4.4% and -5.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture importing markets in MERCOSUR were Brazil ($X), Chile ($X) and Colombia ($X), together comprising 69% of total imports.
Chile, with a CAGR of +9.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Brazil ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
