Cheese Exports

Exports in MERCOSUR

Cheese exports rose markedly to X tons in 2022, with an increase of X% against the previous year. In general, exports, however, saw a slight downturn. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cheese exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a mild descent. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Argentina represented the largest exporter of cheese in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. Uruguay (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Chile (X%). Brazil (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Argentina increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Brazil (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Brazil emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Chile experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Uruguay (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Argentina (X p.p.) and Brazil (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Uruguay saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of cheese, when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, cheese imports reached $X in 2022. Total imports indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2019 indices.
