Dried Mushroom Exports

Exports in MENA

In 2022, shipments abroad of dried mushrooms and truffles increased by X% to X tons, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. In general, exports enjoyed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, dried mushroom exports fell remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a slight decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) represented the major exporter of dried mushrooms and truffles, mixing up X% of total exports. Turkey (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Iran (X%). Lebanon (X tons), Syrian Arab Republic (X tons) and Israel (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.

Exports from the United Arab Emirates increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Lebanon (X%), Iran (X%), Turkey (X%) and Syrian Arab Republic (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest dried mushroom supplier in MENA, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Iran ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a X% share.

In Turkey, dried mushroom exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Iran (X% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (X% per year).

Morocco (X p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (X p.p.), Bahrain (X p.p.) and Iraq (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait saw its share reduced by X%, X% and X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
