For the fourth consecutive year, the MENA's grapefruit market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by X% to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Grapefruit Production in MENA

In value terms, grapefruit production rose significantly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The countries with the highest volumes of production in 2022 were Turkey (X tons), Israel (X tons) and Tunisia (X tons), with a combined X% share of total production. Iran, Syrian Arab Republic, Egypt and Morocco lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Syrian Arab Republic (with a CAGR of X%), while production for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average yield of grapefruits in MENA declined to X tons per ha, approximately mirroring 2021. In general, the yield, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X%. The level of yield peaked at X tons per ha in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the yield remained at a lower figure. Exports in MENA

In 2022, the amount of grapefruits exported in MENA fell to X tons, with a decrease of X% against the year before. Overall, exports showed a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
