Exports from Malaysia

In 2023, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of yarn of synthetic or artificial staple fibers, when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. Overall, exports continue to indicate a dramatic setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, synthetic yarn exports reduced remarkably to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports faced a precipitous descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Kenya (X tons) was the main destination for synthetic yarn exports from Malaysia, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, synthetic yarn exports to Kenya exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, South Africa (X tons), twofold. Japan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an X% share.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by X%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2022, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
