Oman (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) were the main destinations of tomato puree exports from Malaysia, together comprising 89% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Turkey (with a CAGR of +2,355.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for tomato puree exported from Malaysia were Indonesia ($X), Turkey ($X) and Oman ($X), together accounting for 82% of total exports. Singapore, Maldives and Thailand lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Maldives, with a CAGR of +3,551.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of tomato puree and paste decreased by -2.8% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, tomato puree imports fell modestly to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 23%. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

China (X tons), Chile (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of tomato puree imports to Malaysia, with a combined 84% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Chile (with a CAGR of +69.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X), Chile ($X) and Turkey ($X) were the largest tomato puree suppliers to Malaysia, together comprising 76% of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, Chile, with a CAGR of +62.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average tomato puree import price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -1.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 20%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the highest price was recorded for prices from the United States ($X per ton) and Italy ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) and Chile ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
