In value terms, Belgium ($X) remains the key foreign market for urea exports from Luxembourg, comprising 86% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 3.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Belgium amounted to +95.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (-19.4% per year) and France (-12.2% per year).

As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, urea imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons) constituted the largest urea supplier to Luxembourg, with a 51% share of total imports. Moreover, urea imports from the Netherlands exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Belgium (X tons), with a 16% share.
