Imports into Libya

In 2022, iron ore imports into Libya fell sharply to X tons, which is down by X% compared with 2021. In general, imports, however, showed modest growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, iron ore imports stood at $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, posted a modest increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Brazil (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of iron ore to Libya, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, iron ore imports from Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Bahrain (X tons), threefold.
