Exports from Libya

After eight years of growth, overseas shipments of frozen fruits decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

In value terms, frozen fruit exports reduced markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

Exports by Country

The UK (X tons) was the main destination for frozen fruit exports from Libya, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, frozen fruit exports to the UK exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X tons), twofold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to the UK totaled X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (X% per year) and Canada (X% per year).

Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, frozen fruit imports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Egypt (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of frozen fruit to Libya, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, frozen fruit imports from Egypt exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X tons), more than tenfold. Costa Rica (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
