Tomato Market Size in Latin America and the Caribbean

The Latin American tomato market declined to $X in 2022, which is down by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Tomato Production in Latin America and the Caribbean

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of production, amongst the main producing countries, was attained by Argentina (with a CAGR of X%), while production for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average tomato yield fell to X tons per ha in 2022, which is down by X% on the previous year's figure. The yield figure increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of yield peaked at X tons per ha in 2021, and then declined slightly in the following year. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.

The tomato harvested area expanded to X ha in 2022, growing by X% on the year before. In general, the harvested area, however, recorded a slight shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the harvested area increased by X%. Tomato Exports

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, exports of tomatoes in Latin America and the Caribbean rose to X tons, with an increase of X% compared with 2021 figures. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, tomato exports rose significantly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by X% against 2012 indices. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to tomato imports into El Salvador stood at X%. At the same time, Chile (X%) and Paraguay (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Chile emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022.
