Telephone Exports

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, the amount of telephones and videophones exported in Latin America and the Caribbean reduced to X units, which is down by X% on the previous year. In general, exports, however, showed a noticeable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, telephone exports reached $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Mexico dominates exports structure, amounting to X units, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Brazil (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Guatemala (X units). All these countries together took near X% share of total exports. Panama (X units) and Chile (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Mexico increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Guatemala (X%) and Chile (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Guatemala emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Brazil (X%) and Panama (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Mexico (X p.p.) and Guatemala (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Brazil and Panama saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, overseas purchases of telephones and videophones increased by X% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after eight years of decline. Overall, imports, however, showed a pronounced setback. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, telephone imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Guatemala represented the main importing country with an import of about X units, which resulted at X% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Mexico (X units), Venezuela (X units) and Colombia (X units), together constituting a X% share of total imports.
