Sewing Machine Needle Exports

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, overseas shipments of sewing machine needles decreased by X% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2021, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

In value terms, sewing machine needle exports declined markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per thousand units), while Ecuador ($X per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
